
About DOWN SureStart
SureStart is a government funded programme targeting children under 4yrs and their families.
DOWN SureStart is a local partnership of statutory, voluntary & community organisations who work together with children under 4 years and their parents/families to experience new opportunities and maximise their full potential – giving every child the best start in life.
DOWN SureStart aims to:
Improve health and well-being; Improve social and emotional development; Improve the ability to learn; Strengthen families and communities.
DOWN SureStart covers specific areas of deprivation within the Down locality (see below) however the name actually represents the work of the team.

- O – Opportunities for children and families
- W – Well-being of children and families
- N – Nurturing children and families
I think the groups are fantastic; there are so many activities that really help with children’s development and confidence. It’s great for building social skills… I would recommend SureStart to any parent - it’s a wonderful experience that all children should have!

Meet the Team
The DOWN SureStart team consists of a range of professionals including:
Project Co-ordinator, Project Support Co-ordinator, Health Visitors, Midwife, Speech and Language Therapists, Family Team, Paediatric Disability Social Worker, Physiotherapists, Health Development Worker, Early Years Team and Administration Team.
